Artist’s Proofs
Artist’s Proofs generally precede the prints in a Limited or Open Edition. The term “artist proof” in printmaking usually is used for the the first few prints off the press when the edition is printed. In the case of the gicleé, Artists’s Proofs usually represent experiments with media (paper or canvas), size, cropping, and sometimes color corrections.
Artist’s Proofs are signed by the artist and indicated with the abbreviation A/P. Sometimes they are numbered, though most often they are not.
Artist’s Proofs are giclées, and are either on canvas or Hahnemühle FineArt papers
